Praise Jesus

I am finally done with the Twilight series and I can return to my life, oh how I have missed it. Although, I have a feeling I will be missing Edward and Bella soon as well. I have been sick for the past three days, so I spent most of my time curled up in my bed watching DVD's (Love in the Time of Cholera...eh, Brokeback Mountain....was NOT expecting the graphicness, i just thought it was a kiss, one measily kiss, oh how i was wrong, Feast of Love...fell asleep half way through and I had no incentive to pick up where I left off) It was a less than stellar showing for DVD's this week, any good suggestions? Twilight doesn't come out on DVD until April 6th here, what a crock! I am back at work today, feeling much better, with exception to my throat, feels like I am swallowing glass, so I try not to, but that doesn't work out very well. Hoping it gets better ASAP, I leave for Prague Friday morning! But really I need a more immediate recovery I am going to Benihana tonight with Christine and Francis...love me some flying utensils and flipping shrimp tails! The yummy onion soup will soothe my throat! Tomorrow is Korean food for Amy and Jean's birthdays, can't wait...I didn't know how much I loved Korean food until Jean informed me.

Flat is almost done, pictures will be soon...

The never ending distraction

Done with Eclipse, on to Breaking Dawn...this one is over 700 pages and it makes me so happy that it will draw out the ending to this series at least another couple of hours at the rate I am reading. I never thought it would be possible for me to love a vampire so much, maybe now I won't be scared of them anymore and I won't have to sleep with my teddy bear snuggled up against my neck like I have done ever since I can remember...doubtful.

I am going to try my hardest to get some unpacking done this weekend...again, doubtful...but I want to get some pics of my new place up soon! Luckily, I am on the last book so my distractions won't last too much longer.

Update

Already finished with New Moon and half way through Eclipse....did I mention these are 500+ page books, I had this horrible realization last night that I will be done with the 4th and final book soon, what will I do with myself!!??

I finally did it

After what seems like months of waiting, I finally moved into my new flat this weekend! I would like to say that I am fully unpacked, but that is hardly the case! There are still unopened boxes everywhere! I only opened the necessities...toiletries, bedding, a few clothes, etc. This is mostly due to the fact that before Kelly and Simon left for Dubai last week she gave me Twilight and told me that I HAD to read it. I have been avoiding this book for a while, for several reasons. First and foremost, I have had an irrational fear of vampires since I was little. I'm not sure if I saw Buffy (the movie, not the TV series) at too young an age or what, but I have always been afraid of them, still to this day. So as a general rule, I try to avoid all things vampire...TV shows, movies, books, caves, you get the drift. Secondly, I also try to avoid cult-ish behaviour, maybe David Koresh scarred me as a child. Thirdly, I have never been into "fantasy" movies or books, I have never seen or read Harry Potter, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, etc. So for all of these reasons, Twilight fell into the "avoid at all costs" category. Well, Kelly assured me that Twilight was not scary, that these were good vampires that didn't hunt humans, only animals, and that I would love it. So after much coaxing I admitted defeat and started reading Twilight on the tube on my way to work last Thursday morning. BAD IDEA. Why you ask, b/c after only 20 minutes of reading this book on the tube, I almost didn't want to get out at my tube stop. I considered taking a "long lunch" and sneaking away to some corner and reading for a hour, but most importantly I only had one more day left to pack before the movers came. Luckily I got the packing all done, but with only 3 hours left for sleep Friday night. Kelly was wrong, the book did scare me a little and of course the scary part came right when I was about to put the book down and go to bed Friday night, but I couldn't put it down at a scary part for obvious reasons, so I had to push on for a bit longer until it got to a happier time! I got all moved Saturday morning and went out to buy a few groceries, and low and behold I passed a bookstore. I realized that I was already dangerously close to finishing Twilight and I couldn't possibly run the chance of finishing the book that night after the bookstores closed without having the next book in the series, New Moon, in hand. So I entered the bookstore, and exited only a few minutes later with all three books from the rest of the series and I ginormous Toblerone in hand (hey, it was 50% off!) I am already half way through New Moon, oh the shame.

Duplicity....

Don't judge us, but Lindsey and I realized we had taken quite a few of the same photo's while she was here, so we decided to just go with it and continue on the path!

Lindsey & Lauren's European Reunion!!!

One of my very best friends from Dallas came to visit me last week!! We had such a blast and way too many stories to try and blog about so I thought I would just post some of my favorite pics from the trip, in reverse order b/c I don't want to end on a sad note (ok, really b/c that is how the pics downloaded and I am too lazy to rearrange them!) We had been waiting for this trip for so long, I can't believe it is over already!! The rest of the 300 pics are on my shutterfly site in all their glory! lwaterfield.shutterfly.com

National Pancake Day

That's right people, here in the UK they don't celebrate Fat Tuesday but they do have National Pancake Day in it's place! I know this post is a bit out dated, but I have gotten pretty far behind my posting with getting ready to move and my visitor from the states last week! More to come on that later!! Back to pancakes, which are actually crepes here, I figured if there was a whole day devoted to it then I was obliged to participate. On NPD Kelly and I had decided to be "good" and walk home from my office together, it is a nice 5 mile walk, but goes fast as we talk faster than we walk the whole way! Well, as we were nearing our flats I let her in on the fact that it was NPD and she was being forced against her will to participate with me. So I think I have a little work to do before my pancakes will be world renowned, but a pretty good effort, after we opened the windows and cleared out the smoke from the first batch i burned. I learned the griddle can't be too hot...there's a good pancake tip for you.
The First Batch

Kelly's flat after the first batch...tad smokey

I was quite defeated

i finally got the hang of it!

The traditional topping for crepes in the UK is lemon juice and sugar, however, we decided we had much better options to choose from!

Ridin' Dirty

No I'm not driving with drugs, a handgun or without insurance* (although I may have been lacking insurance over Christmas), anyways back to the point, although I don't have a car here in London I love my new driving gloves! Don't judge the knuckle holes, they are awesome, plus I can wear my brass knuckles on chilly days now!

* a friend Alyssa once thought that the rap song Ridin' Dirty meant driving without car insurance :)
